Urinetown is a multi-award-winning satirical musical lampooning everything from the legal system and corporate avarice to politics, social irresponsibility, and even musical theatre itself. Set in a dystopian city plagued by a decades-long drought, private lavatories have been banned, forcing citizens to pay exorbitant fees to use public conveniences controlled by a single unscrupulous company. When an ordinary individual dares to rebel, he ignites a movement that challenges the oppressive status quo. With its razor-sharp wit and Brechtian, tongue-in-cheek flair, Urinetown delivers a daring, irreverent, and riotously funny perspective on what a contemporary musical can achieve.
