Phoenix Comedy Club

Another one of our superbly smashingly super stand up comedy clubs for you!!!

This month we’re delighted to be inviting the talents of three amazing comedians to the delectable surroundings of The Phoenix. Welcome Kate Lucas, Alexander Bennett and MC Ben van Der Velde!

Ben Van der Velde is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter. Over the past few years, Ben has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles, as well as Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway. Outside the circuit, Ben has performed a voodoo re-marriage ceremony, founded the Church of the Holy Kazoo with comedy legend Mark Thomas, and walked the entire London Underground network to raise money for The Refugee Council.
‘Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue.’
Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

Award winning musical comedian Kate Lucas is known for her razor-sharp and deliciously dark songs. She combines catchy melodies with original lyrics to showcase her playfully bitter musings on life. Audiences have come to expect examples of what not to say and how not to behave from this gloriously talented comic.
"Wickedly naughty and deliciously dark."★★★★ Broadway Baby
"A true musical genius."★★★★ Ed Fest Mag

Alexander Bennett’s comedy has been variously described as dark, silly, filthy and thoughtful. He has numerous Edinburgh Fringe runs under his belt, has filmed several stand up specials and he created the cult hit comedy game show Hell To Play. He has recently started his new podcast Born Yesterday with comedian Andy Barr.
