Hairspray Jr. will be The Phoenix’s sixth Summer Project and will be performed on the stage of The Phoenix Theatre on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August 2018. For more information on the Summer Youth Project and how to get involved, please read the information below.

The most important thing about the Summer Youth Project is that it is two weeks of extremely hard work that only succeeds if team effort is put into it from absolutely everyone involved. It is also two weeks of working with and learning from a superb team of professionals, making new friends and having great fun.

We hope that you can join us and we look forward to seeing you on either Saturday 4th April or Saturday 14th April at 10am for the first round of auditions!

Age for Entry

You must be aged between 8 – 18 in order to be eligible for this project.

The Auditions

Auditions will take place at The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre, Bordon on Saturday 7th April and Saturday 14th April at 10am. Please note that a parent / carer is required to sign in their children. We anticipate the auditions taking no more than 2 hours and hope to have the Café Bar open should you wish to stay and wait.

You will not have to prepare anything for the auditions – you will be taught a short group song and dance on the day and might be asked to read from the script. If you are interested in singing a solo piece, please prepare an excerpt from a song (you can sing unaccompanied or bring a CD/iPod/iPhone). Please wear comfy clothes and bring plenty of water to drink.

Project Dates

The dates for the 2018 Summer Youth Project are: Monday 23rd July to Saturday 4th August (excluding Sunday 29th July). YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL THESE DATES.

All rehearsals will take place at The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre in Bordon. Rehearsals will usually start at 10am and go on all day with a break for lunch (and another for tea if evening rehearsals are needed). Towards the end of the project days may be longer, with dress rehearsals etc taking place in the evening. Rehearsal schedules for the first week of the project will be posted to the company prior to the start of the project.

Performances take place on the evenings of Friday 3rd August and Saturday 4th August 2018. The performances will take place on the stage of The Phoenix Theatre.

If you are accepted, the fee for the full two weeks of the project is £130.00 and is payable in advance and no later than Monday 2 July 2018.

The fee does not include any transport or meals so you will need to bring a packed lunch and you may be asked to bring in basic items of costumes e.g. shoes etc. These should hopefully only be items that you already have at home.

Details of instalment payments will be sent with cast information after the auditions if you wish to pay in instalments.
