An international music project, pushing the boundaries of contemporary folk.
Together with his band from Canada and Scotland, Ewan Macintyre weaves his own blend of folk pop traditions.
Led by puppeteer, musicians and ex-lead singer-songwriter of the award-winning Edinburgh collective “Southern Tenant Folk Union”, “Road Junkie” is a genre smashing album and exciting collaboration between Quebec, Scotland and British Columbia, Canada. The new album takes inspiration from 2 years of intensive touring across Canada and Europe. Sonically compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley, Joe Cocker, Goat Rodeo Sessions and the Beach Boys, drawing on influences of Ewan’s work in Bluegrass, Scottish and Irish traditional music, theatre, pop, rock and soul.
Hailed as “a welcome moment in the future of Scottish music”(mumble music @ Celtic Connections), live shows feature beautiful string arrangements, ripping solos, soaring harmonies and heartfelt lyrical content.
On the road, the band are a quartet of Fiddle, Cello, Upright Bass and Guitar/ Mandolin/ Vocals; featuring
Quebecois and Scottish talents Karine Bouchard (La Violoncelliste) on Cello, Peter Menzies on Fiddle and Jenny Hill (Songs of Separation) on Double Bass. The unique quality of this project derives from Ewan’s easy stage presence, his song-writing and the quality of the musicians involved, all of which creating an intimate atmosphere for all to enjoy.
