The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre is committed to supporting people of all abilities and is a designated Safe Place. We try to make our work as inclusive as possible and are always happy to listen to your suggestions.
Following the success of our previous 'A Play in a Day' workshop, we are delighted to offer two similar activities, 'Another Play in a Day' and 'Let's Dance in a Day' during February half term.
The workshops are suitable for young people with SEN and are held in a supportive environment encouraging confidence and communication skills. Drama and Dance facilitators will help the group to work together to create a short performance which will be performed for parents/carers in the theatre at the end of each day. Bookings can be made for one or both days. No previous experience is necessary.
Having piloted some drama workshops for Hollywater School last year, we will shortly be working with Stopgap Dance Company to deliver dance workshops at the school.
We are planning a Community Dance Project this summer which will aim to be as inclusive as possible and which will lead to a performance at The Phoenix Theatre on 5 July (details in our season brochure)
This year's Phoenix Summer Youth Project is "The Wizard of Oz" (28 July - 9 August) and is open to young people with SEN who would like to perform onstage or to work behind the scenes. Email for an application form.
