Refurbishment update!

Since we sadly closed our doors to the public last March, so much has happened within this wonderful building.

What's been happening?

You've probably been asking yourself "what is going on in there?" Well let us tell you:

Walls have been built. Loos have been given a facelift. We've added and updated fixtures and fittings. We've carried out electrical work.

And we've been painting. We've been doing lots of painting!!  And so much more that we could go on...

Ongoing work

You may have seen the scaffolding go up, then come down and, like us, were so ready for a grand re-opening.

We were desperate to welcome you back and share the new look theatre in September. Sadly, that was not to be.

There was still an awful lot of internal decoration needed. In fact, room 3, the interval room opposite the bar, is currently being decorated.

Scuppered plans

So, we rescheduled the grand re-opening for January, with our annual Panto being the first performance.

But of course as you'll no doubt know our plans were scuppered with more lockdown news.

A sneak peak

However, we are keen to share what we have done so far, particularly to the many of you who have so kindly and generously donated to our fundraising campaign.

You can see how your money has been spent.  A huge amount of the funding did in fact go on things you can’t see but are so important and vital to the continued life of the theatre, including the roof and the electrics.

Thank you for your support

I hope you like what you see. New life has been fired into The Phoenix and, without our wonderful supporters and community, that would not be the case.

This incredible, historical building belongs to us all and we are so excited to share with you, the next stage of the journey.

We know we'll see you soon

We still need to update some areas and will be relaunching the fundraising campaign in relation to a specific project very soon.

Watch this space for more details.

Keep safe – we’ll see you soon!
